EVENT: New North Kent National Nature Reserve Consultation

Map of the possible areas included in the NNR

The Medway Swale Estuary Partnership (MSEP) and White Horse Ecology are running an in person consultation about the new Partnership National Nature Reserve (NNR) located between Medway and Gravesend. At this stage, we don’t know exactly which areas will be part of the NNR but the organisations involved might include National Trust, Woodland Trust, Kent County Council, Plantlife and the West Kent Downs Countryside Trust

National Nature Reserves are “exemplary, nationally important nature reserves, where nature conservation is the primary land use and significant other benefits may be provided for people and the environment”. This won’t stop people from using these places as they always have, but it is an exciting opportunity to celebrate our wildlife and make these places even better for nature and people.

As part of our planning for the area, we want to know your thoughts about the area, and what you want to see in the future of these sites to help develop and improve the space for everyone. Find attached a map of the proposed partnership National Nature Reserve. Please come along and have you say.

This is a partnership project led by the Kent Downs National Landscape and supported by White Horse Ecology and Natural England with funding from National Highways.
