M20 Moveable Barrier: project update
I am writing to let you know of some upcoming overnight closures that are needed to carry out some traffic management changes, and to finish our lane reconfiguration work, which involves removing the existing white lining and laying down the new lines in the correct position.
To carry out this work safely, the following overnight closures will be required.
London-bound overnight closures
The M20 London-bound between junctions 9 and 8 will be closed overnight from:
- 8:00pm Tuesday 19 September until 6:00am Wednesday 20 September 2023
Diversion route: A clearly signed diversion route will be in place taking traffic along the coastbound M20, the coastbound A20 towards Dover, then along the A2, London-bound M2 and crossing back to the M20 at J7 via the A249.
Coastbound overnight closures
The M20 coastbound between junctions 7 and 9 will be closed overnight from:
- 8:00pm Wednesday 20 September until 6:00am Thursday 21 September 2023
Diversion route: A clearly signed diversion route will be in place taking traffic coastbound along the A249, M2, A2, A20, then back onto the M20.
Coastbound slip road closures
To enable us carry out duct work to get CCTV services from one side of the carriageway to the other, some coastbound slip road closures are also required.
The coastbound M20 junction 9 exit slip road will be closed from:
- 9:00pm Monday 18 September until 6:00am Tuesday 19 September 2023
Diversion route: Traffic will be directed to continue to junction 10A where they can turnaround and exit the M20 at junction 9 on the London-bound side.
The coastbound M20 junction 9 entry slip road will be closed from:
- 9:00pm Thursday 21 September until 6:00am Friday 22 September 2023
- 9:00pm Friday 22 September until 6:00am Saturday 23 September 2023
Diversion route: A clearly signed diversion route will be in place taking traffic coastbound along the A20, A28, A2070, A20 then back onto the M20.
